Choosing the right school for your son/daughter is an important decision and at Queen’s Park High School we strive to give you as much insight and information as possible to help you with this process.

We organise an Open Evening in September along with Open Sessions throughout the year to enable families of Year 5 and 6 students to visit the school prior to making their Secondary School preference selection in October.

How to Apply

All applications for admission to Queen’s Park High School for children transferring from primary school into Year 7 are co-ordinated centrally by the Local Authority. To apply you need to create an account and follow the online application process. If you do not have an email and are unable to apply on line please download and complete the application form at the bottom of this page and post to: School Admissions, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Wyvern House, The Drumber, Winsford CW7 1AH.

Welcome Evening

Unfortunately we are unable to hold our Welcome Evening for current Year 6/new Year 7 students on Wednesday 13th May 2020, due to the Covid-19 outbreak. However please watch the welcome presentation at the top of this page, that has been recorded for our new Year 7 children and their parents/carers by Miss Watterson and Mrs Scanlon to find out more about life at secondary school and the transition process.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to welcoming your family to the Queen's Park High School Community.

Admission appeals

While most parents/carers will be able to send their child off to start their educational journey at the high school of their preference in September, there will be a handful who may not have been allocated their preferred choice. The reason for this is usually that the demand for places is higher than those available. In this instance you should receive a letter from the school stating why your child has not been admitted.

If we cannot offer you a place you have the right to appeal, which will be determined by an Independent Appeal Panel. The Appeal Form can be downloaded below.

Late applications

If the closing date to apply for a place in Year 7 for September has passed, you can still submit a late application - please refer to pages 9-10 of the Transferring to Secondary School booklet for further information on late applications (see attachment below)

CWAC Consultation

Cheshire West and Chester Cabinet determined the local authority's 2020-2021 admission arrangements and coordinated admissions scheme on 6 February 2019 in accordance with the statutory requirements of the School Admissions Code which states that admission authorities must determine their arrangements by 28 February 2019.
