Rory's Rockets soar to National Big Bang Finals

Back in July 2017 when Rory was still in Year 8, his name was announced as one of the winners of the regional heats at The Big Bang Fair North West with his project entitled ‘Chemical Rockets’. As part of the project, Rory created a series of rockets powered by chemical reactions. He has since showcased and demonstrated his rockets launching to visitors during the school’s Open Evening in September has been hard at work developing the project further ready for the national finals.

Rory has been invited to attend the competition finals, which are taking place at The Big Bang Fair at Birmingham’s NEC this week, during British Science Week 2018. Here, he will vie for top prizes including the coveted title of UK Young Engineer and GSK UK Young Scientist of the Year.
