Lest We Forget

This year on Armistice Day, The British Legion are asking the nation to pause, breathe and reflect on the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces make on our behalf.

At Queen's Park High School we will observe a two-minute silence at 11am on Friday 11th November along with the rest of the nation to remember the deaths and sacrifices of those who served in the two world wars and in other conflicts since.

In honour of the service and sacrifice of those who lost their lives in the two world wars, we would also like to share the following biographies of students who attended our school and whose name can be found on the school war memorial situated outside the main hall.

This research has been undertaken and kindly shared with us by Nigel Meyrick, former student and British Museum Northwest Marsh Trust and 10 Downing Street Points of Light award Winner for the Volunteer researcher for Cheshire West & East.

Lieutenant Thomas Higgins MC, 130th Field Company, Royal Engineers.

Private Samuel Mottershead, 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders

Captain James Mould DSO & MC, Worcester Regiment, 3rd Battalion.

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them."

These war memorials are on permanent display outside the main hall at school.

"They gave their tomorrows, so we could have our today"
